A friend of mine who is away at college (we went to high school together) is stopping here on his way home tonight. This is a treat, as I have not seen him since Halloween! It motivated me to finish my chores for today (and then some--the bathrooms smell delightfully like bleach, and my dresser top is organized for once!), and I am excited for tonight. He is coming after dinner, which is a relief because we were planning on leftovers because I forgot to buy more food for the week. We had enough for four meals instead of five. I suppose we always could have eaten out, but I digress. I considered whipping up some sort of baked good as well, but I decided against it. There are still cookies from Thanksgiving (although they are, admittedly, nearing their last leg).
So, I did a lot of chores today, and I worked out, and I found a new domestic goddess to worship (how was I ever afraid of her?). What a rewarding day.

Isn't it funny how we always want our homes to appear as we WANT to live for our guests, but it is hard keeping them that way for ourselves. Silly, really, cuz we should be our most HONORED guests, non?
It's so much easier to pick up once a week/month/whatever, though, than to keep it in that condition every day!
