I meant to post this entry yesterday, but Walter and I spent some quality time together after dinner, and the time got away from me. Dinner was fantastic, by the way. Walter did not, as I suspected, eat any of the vegetables. While they were a good compliment to the chicken, they were not worth making again, so I believe that next time, they will not be included. Walter also suggested using frozen peas instead of canned ones for the rice next time. He is so picky, but I agree--canned peas are far mushier. Regardless of these few snags, it was a good meal that will be made again.
I have a number of Halloween decorations for my party, including tinsel, lanterns, hanging Frankensteins, festive cups and plates, and a large plastic cauldron that will be our punch bowl. I am going for a more fun look than a frightening one. I also have a CD of Halloween hits (such as Monster Mash). My mother used to decorate quite a bit for Halloween, as well (it is quite possibly the only holiday I remember fondly), and has found many of her decorations. Quite nice, really. I am excited for the holiday.
The menu:
Eyeball cupcakes
Halloween sugar cookies
Bread and bacon snakes
Slime punch
Halloween gingerbread house
Mummies with mustard dip
The menu is not, as of yet, finalized. It depends on the amount of guests and the availability of the products, but that is somewhat correct. I am looking for more non-sweet ideas, if anyone has any.
And now, I need to do my exercises. Part of being a great housewife is looking good for your husband! I wasted much of the day on the phone with my mother. At times I am quite the gossip.
