Gifts!

The local market did not have any orange extract. They had the extracts of everything else you could imagine, but not orange. I will have to ask Walter to pick some up for me in the city later this week. I did, however, get tags and ribbon for the gift wrapping. I must say, the gifts turned out far nicer this year than they ever have before. I even took a picture of my finished product:

And I have to share the lovely tags I found at Dollar General, of all places (that is actually where I found the wrapping paper and the ribbon as well). The ones below are the ones I have left for next year:

Aren't they adorable?

The dishes have been done, and the laundry is drying. I need to start looking into dinner, but I think a rest is in order first.

I will tell you a secret: I LOATHE Christmas. Even as a child I disliked it. There is too much fuss, too much noise, too much family pretending that they spend quality time together more than once a year. It got a bit better when I married, as Walter's family is far more amicable than mine, but now with my sister and her drama, it is frustrating me again.

I usually do my Christmas shopping in October, around my birthday (most of the time, I use any birthday money I get for my Christmas gifts). This year, we didn't have the money, so I had to wait until now, and it frustrated me so. I try to get as much out of the way as early as possible so that the entire affair is fast and as painless as possible.

I suppose it is no surprise that my favorite Christmas move is How the Grinch Stole Christmas. But I am not sure my heart will ever grow three sizes. ;)
