A Bit on Exercise

I work out 5-7 times a week. I am a naturally thin person, but I am also only nearly twenty years old, and I am sure that with time, remaining thin won't come so naturally to me. I began working out about a month and a half ago for other reasons, however. I have arthritis, and there are days when I am not well enough to even get out of bed. I have found that good muscle tone and high activity decreases the number of bedridden days, and so here I am. I knew this little tidbit before, but motivation is often hard to come by.

I have mentioned that I have a number of interests other than housewifery. One of those, perhaps the biggest, is in video games. Walter and I are somewhat of afficianados when it comes to gaming, so when we finally had enough money, I purchased Wii Fit. I have found it delightfully easy to stay on track with, and I have become far more fit since we obtained it. Walter uses it as well, though not quite as often as I do. He is hoping to lose some weight, but with as many snacks as they have at the office, I think it is going to be an uphill battle! :)

I have had a home version of Dance Dance Revolution for almost three years now. I used it fairly frequently while still living with my parents, but only once or twice after Walter and I got married because we lived in an upstairs apartment, and I did not want to disturb the neighbors. And then my affliction came on, and I was in a wheelchair for six months and am only now feeling healthy enough to do anything high-impact. Well, I dusted off the mats today and did fifteen minutes in workout mode, and it was quite refreshing. I have found that my affinity for other rhythm games (such as Rock Band and Guitar Hero) has increased my skill slightly, though I can still only play on light. But I do digress...

All in all, I feel quite healthy this afternoon, and I am quite proud of myself. Tonight I am going to make tacos for dinner. I would like to make cheeseburgers, but I think I will check the markets my friend suggested for the non-lactose cheese tomorrow instead, so that I can perhaps have a bit of cheese on mine as I did once upon a time.
